McCain has taken a 5% point lead in todays Gallup over Obama. What can you day the roles have reversed and now it is McCain in the lead.
Hope somebody on either side notices that Russia and Venezuela announced joint naval exercises in the Atlantic for later this year.

Yep, and Venezuela's been up to a few other things as well...

Venezuela Test Fires Russian Missiles From Sukhoi, Battleship
(Bloomberg) -- Venezuela's military fired its first test missile from a recently acquired Russian Sukhoi fighter jet and launched its first seaborne missile in 13 years, showcasing new capabilities in exercises carried live on state television.

...wonder when later this year is.

The world moves on independent of this election and then in late January 2009 the winner will jump us back on the train ride. We all need to watch our emotional involvement in this for the years 2009-2012 will be lived not on the emotions of this forum but on the events of the world both international and domestic. You either have the resources yourself or you don't. You either have the skills to adapt and survive or you don't. Probably won't be a group emotional process. All of the candidates have a prosperous life to move on to. Do we all? If not then that's the race we all need to be ready for. Many of us sit home comfortably retired and feel comfortable one way or the other about the future. That is perhaps the real poll question, not our collective identity ego's but our invididual security.

My take on McCain's bounce: the novelty of Sarah Palin is causing more people to pay attention and respond favorably to McCain. The novelty will wear off in a few weeks, and we're going to be back to the harsh realities of life: rising unemployment, rising foreclosure rate, failing banks, high energy prices, tanking stock market.
