As both presidential candidates Democratic Sen. Barack Obama and Republican John McCain go through their silly blame game about who’s responsible for the financial shock waves now shaking the very foundations of Wall Street, they prove once again they are anything but agents of change.

Fix the economy? Absent a strong centralized industrial policy (which by the way I am not advocating) I think that you are essentially correct. The President can put in place policies that will either advance or hinder economic growth, but "fixing" economic structures of the size of the US is beyond any one President or Congress.

I don't agree with your position, "They are anything BUT agents of change." You're taking a position that doesn't allow or accomodate for a change in the status quo.

Just look at George W. Bush. His disastrous policies set the tone for a lot changes in this country.
