Reid's playing politics, IMO. He's more concerned about D's taking control of the White House than getting a deal done.
"Need" is a peculiar word to use also. Of course he's not needed. No one is needed. It's political phrasing because you'd have to know what are the conditions of need.
Not necessary at this point. When they need him they'll call and he can get on his airplane.

There's no way to measure "need" without knowing the conditions. Need for a deal that makes it through? We'll see. If it falls apart and Congress doesn't pass a deal, we'll see what you say when the nation sees that BO and the Dems tied McCain's hands on this. If the market continues to crash in spite of whatever deal does get through? There will always be the question "could McCain have made a difference?"
Same as Obama on the surge: It's more important to him to win than to put America first.
It's quite clear to me this is political grandstanding at its finest. The choices McCain makes are certainly, uh... "interesting."
Say, Georgia Dem, why so terse? It was you who abandoned your party to vote Republican, why so angry at us who haven't changed our thinking? Just wondering.
If the president was overseas and this banking crisis hit - do you think he would stay overseas or get his butt on AF1 and hustle home?
So much for obama's chew gum and walk analogy. No leadership, at all. "call me" if you need me.
is it another hypothetical question. Notice in your question you said the "president" Obama and McCain are candidates they are not the president,DUH!!!
