America should be turning them into soylent green at age 65.

I'm a big fan of capitalism, but not laissez faire.

Lawdy me! Is that the rage of an unfulfilled sense of entitlement I smell? Do tell where my ignorance is betrayed on the socialism. Hurry now... I've been waiting to feel superior.

I seriously doubt that you "drastically" limit your income to reduce the amount of tax you pay. But yeah, get angry at the old folks, instead of the criminal administration that brought this country's economy down. Good move.

BTW...take a look at Obama's increase in wealth (last eight years) and explain to me who "benefitted?"
You might not be aware that Obama published two books which have become best sellers, or that his wife got a raise.

His tax returns are scrutinized by folks looking for something, anything. If there were the slightest problem it would have been big news by now. (News, not innuendo.)

You might want to recheck your source that's trying to raise suspicions about Obama's income and ask yourself if it's really basing its claims in fact.

So if you were in NOLA you wouldn't mind if they didn't bail you out?

Hahahaha. I hope you're not trying to accuse me of having a sense of entitlement when you, me and all the rest of the workers are getting ready to shell out upwards of 700 billion dollars to the greediest, most entitled group of parasitic bastards on the planet. You Capitalists really have your values turned upside down. I wonder...is it ignorance or cowardice? Which one? In your case I'm betting that it's the latter.

God's honest truth. I used to work 80 to 90 hrs a week (I'm self-employed.) Then, I snapped. I got it down to a few days a month for the longest time.

It's sort of fun. I make soap, wine, clothes, do my own car repairs, use the library for entertainment and grow my own veggies... and everything I do myself is of incredible quality and so cheap!

Goodness, you figure if a pair of nice pants costs you $80, when you take taxes into account, you needed to make around $140. You can buy superior quality cloth for a pair of pants for $20 and you take care of any tailoring with no extra charge... and the pockets are the size and location you want

(Regrettably, I am working more this past two months or so, but by the end of the year, I should be back down.)

Let me know if you'd like any help getting yourself off the merry-go-round.

My experience has been that a person who supports socialism is a person who believes that one person should help the next... without regard to the preference of others not to participate. You believe others owe you their freedom of choice in order for your preferences to be carried out. Would you describe your willingness to oppress others in some other fashion?

Being that you've already accused me of having no idea about socialism, ignorance must contribute.

Do share, as a fan of capitalism, how my values are turned upside down.

Excuse me, but can I just qualify, as the OP, that I am neither a liberal nor a socialist, and this thread is neither about liberalism nor socialism. Thank you, as you were.

OP, are you asking whether we feel we should be out doing something constructive instead of wasting our time on the internet banging our heads against the wall? I dont think it's possible for people whose outlooks on life are so dissimilar to "work together" on anything political - although for what? against what? Trust and respect would have to exist and, well, my friends...

Like I said, the divided and conquered. Two kids arguing in the street about a toy, and they are both gonna get wiped out by the same car they aren't noticing for fighting over the toy....

I guess I'm just tripping on how equally screwed folks with such disparate views are, and how oblivious to that fact some can seem...
