I read "Failing America's Faithful" by Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, and highly recommend it. It is about how the church has abandoned its traditional role of helping those in need and aligned itself with the right, and become obsessed with private social issues. It helped me reconcile my Christianity and my politics (its ok to be a Christian and a democrat).

My church welcomes all people to communion. I would much rather belong to a loving, outreaching church, than one who thinks it can decide who is good enough and who is not. That is only for God to decide. Shame on you for trying.

It is about time the Church takes a defiinite and vocal stand on this. Of course, a large percentage of Catholics will still vote Democrat...makes no sense.

Surprised the uber compassionate Vatican doesn't want to burn them at the stake or place them on a rack or just simply beat the love into them.
Very good ideas.

What about all the Catholics who use birth control? I don't know a single Catholic who doesn't. Should they be kicked out of the church? Not allowed to take communion?

Perhaps people look at the big picture and realize that one issue doesn't trump all others? Maybe???

The Vatican's just sore about the pesky seperation of church and state. Old grudges die hard.

I'm not a Catholic, but I find your post offensive! You are intitled to your opinion, but I think you could show a bit more respect!
