I'm really curious to hear from McCain supporters here (who I'm assuming are conservative republicans)...isn't this plan he proposed last night even MORE to the left and socialist of anything Obama is suggesting?

Ugh The money he's proposing to use to do this with is already included in the 700b. He was just revealing what he proposes to do to help the middle class. That's already been revealed in the debate analysis. Never stop at just the debate. You need the experts to translate most of the bs, remember?
lol....the funny thing is.....McCain is trying to fix what Obama and his Acorn group did.....they practically forced low income ppl into homes they could not afford thus, being the reason for the foreclosures as well as the current economy.......McCain is simply trying to help out those who are going under by offering them affordable mtg's so they don't have to be homeless

Nice try though
I don't understand what you mean by "try". It is what it is: the government interfering with the free market via a bailout, which is supposed to be the antithesis of the Republican party.
Since the DEMOCRATS voted for the bailout...it's already done with.
Now they need to know where to put the money, and they were NOT planning to use it to buyout mortgages. They were going to use it to rescue companies.

McCain's original plan called for lenders to write down the value of these mortgages, and take those losses. McCain unveiled the new $300 billion plan in response to the first question of the debate.
Quote:
Instead, taxpayers pay for it, under the funding already provided by the $700 billion bailout bill.
He is trying to buy votes with this new plan. Appealing to those who are about to lose their homes. He has abandoned his original thoughts of less government for more votes.

He's such a maverick he doesn't even agree with himself.

This proposal is strikingly different from both McCain's original idea, and from the housing rescue bill adopted by Congress in July.
