I was watching Palin from a CNN news clip last night, and directly behind her was this guy in an NFL (??) jersey, with dark sunglasses, a cowboy hat, and a grizzly-Adams type beard. I asked my partner, "who's that hillbilly behind her?" Apparently, it's Hank Williams, Jr., stumping for the ticket.

I can't believe they have this guy--of all people--out there campaigning for their ticket. Do they think they'll win with a guy like that?? Who are they targeting in terms of votes? Do you have to tote a gun, chew skoal, listen to country, drive a truck, and live in a trailor (not that there's anything *wrong* with that)??

First McCain picked the rookie Palin, then he made the biggest gaffe by saying "the fundamentals of our economy are strong" in September, then he "quit" his campaign to "rescue" the bail-out plan and his party didn't follow him to pass it. Then he flops the first 2 debates, and his facial contortions and wiggling around like a preschooler in the last debate, made people wonder if he had A.D.D. After repeatedly attacking Obama personally for the past month, his campaign now starts to say he's "socialist." Doesn't McCain realize the $700 billion bailout package from the gvt can be argued that it is one of the largest moves towards socialism in this countries' history? And he led the charge...laughable.

In summary, I just think the McCain/Palin campaign have made so many misfires, that it is *shocking* they are still just down by 10 points or so. They SHOULD be trailing by 20-25.

Anyway, keep doing what they are doing. Go Obama.

Hank Williams is a poster child for drug and alcohol abuse.

But like teen pregnancy, as long as it's a republican doing these things, it's A-OK!

Congress has so much control of what happens in this country, but that can be directed, initiated, or diverted by a strong leader (president).

When events occur, be it hostile, or natural then we must have a person that can make intelligent rational decisions.

McCain choose Palin, and there goes any creditability he has as far as making intelligent decisions. This decision was a gamble on his part that a pretty face and a nice rack would sway a whole sea of superficial people into voting for him. Did he give a second thought to the fact he might die in office, and leave this country with a void at the top as this empty headed woman sat in the oval office?

Oh yeah, I had to figure out who that guy was too. He sings a country music song at Palin's rallies, with lyrics about how mavericky McCain/Palin are and how Obama/Biden stink to high heaven. He wears a different NFL jersey every day, for the home team of wherever they're speaking. When they were in Virginia, he was wearing a Washington Redskins jersey. Yesterday they were in Colorado so he wore a Denver Broncos jersey.

Here are the lyrics to the song, "McCain-Palin Tradition"

The left wing liberal media have always been a real close knit family
But most of the American people dont believe em anyway you see
Stop and think it over
Before you make your decision
If they smell something wrong, they're gonna come down strong
You know McCain-Palin tradition
John and Sarah tell you just what they think. They're not gonna blink. And they don't have radical friends to whom their careers are linked
John is his own man
And Sarah fixed Alaska's broken condition
They're gonna be just fine
Were headed for good times
You know McCain-Palin Tradition
This old unions got problems
That is plain to see
The democrats bankrupted Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac
Like 1-2-3
The bankers didn't want to make all those bad loans
Bill Clinton said "you got to!"
Now they wanna bail out
what I'm talking about
Is a democrat liberal hoodoo!
To me and you
John and Sarah tell you just what they think
And they're not gonna blink
They're gonna fix this country, cuz they're just like you and ol Hank
I am very proud
Of our country's name
But no society is perfect
And we have had our stains
If I'm down at the coffee shop
Somebody wants to start do give our flag friction
I say please move on, were standing strong
Thats an Old John McCain tradition
John and Sarah tell you just what they think
And they're not gonna blink
They're gonna fix this country, cuz they're just like you and ol Hank
If I'm down at the coffee shop
Somebody wants to start do give our flag friction
I say please move on, were standing strong
Thats an Old Sarah Palin tradition
Some are bound to tell you
I'm preaching to the choir
And that is very true, and we are going even higher
Like a Mama bear in Idaho
She'll protect your family's condition
If you mess with her cubs, shes gonna take off the gloves, thats an American female tradition
Ehi tell me Sarah why do you hunt
John why do you fish
How can you be so smart and savvy
such a hey good-looking dish
Yes John is his own man
And Sarah fixed Alaska's broken condition
Were gonna see the light, they're gonna get it right, its a McCain-Palin tradition

She is also a prescription drug addict. In fact, she used her not for profit agency as a vehicle to procure those drugs before she went to rehab.

But again, since it's republicans, we have to call her brave for overcoming her addiction.

I've seen both candidates stumble along the way, they are human. McCain picks himself back up and Obama keeps getting helped back up. Just my oppinion, I think this whole campaign has become a big popularity contest instead of what it's suppose to be all about.... The issues of America.

How about the words to the original version.

Country music singers
have always been a real close family
but lately some of my kin folks
have disowned a few others and me
i guess its because
i kinda changed my direction
i guess i went and broke the family tradition

they get on me wanna know Hank
why do you drink?
(Hank) why do you roll smoke?
Why must you live out the songs that you wrote?
over and over
everybody made my prediction
so if i get stoned
I'm just carryin'
on an old family tradition

I am very proud
of my daddys name
although his kinda music
and mine ain't exactly the same
stop and think it over
put yourself in my position
if i get stoned and sing all night long
it's a family tradition

Don't ask me Hank
why do you drink?
(Hank) why do you roll smoke?
Why must you live out the songs that you wrote?
If I'm down in a Honky-Tonk
Some ol' slicks tryin to give me corrections
I'll say leave me alone
I'm singin all night long
it's a family tradition

Lordy, I have loved some ladies
and I have loved Jim Beam
and they both tried to kill me
in 1973
when that doctor asked me
Son how did you get in this condition
I said hey sawbones I'm just carryin on
an old family tradition

So don't ask me Hank
why do you drink?
(Hank) why do you roll smoke?
Why must you live out the songs you wrote?
Stop and think it over
Try and put yourself in my unique position
If I get stoned and sing all night long
It's a family tradition!

I miss the old Hank just as much as I miss old Charlie Daniels. Back in the late '60s/early '70s these guys were true rebels and pioneers in the country music business. Listen to songs like "Family Tradition," "If You Don't Like Hank Williams," "Longhaired Country Boy," etc... Now they're spouting all of this party line crap. Charlie even re-wrote "Longhaired Country Boy" to take out the marijuana references once he became "born again." They ought to hang out with Willie more and pay more attention to what Johnny sang about/stood for.
