I know the right likes to belittle education, critical thought, the ability to string "words" together to make a (comprehensible) "sentence" and all other signs of useless elitism, but man, even in Mississippi and Alabama they usually try to vote out Congresspersons who say, "she got er did".
In any language, in any culture, the quickest way to spot the differences between the socio-economic classes is the correct use of personal pronouns* and the ability, or lack thereof to correctly conjugate a verb**.
* I went, not me went.
** I did it, not I done it.
Or maybe he was just playing the "ignorant hick" card because he knew he was talking to "real Americans".
