We have been drilled with the Alaska Governor's popularity numbers for quite some time, and though lately the calling card has been tapering off in Senator McCain's acknowledgments, it did return in a recent interview were he defended the Governor. In light of the Governor's recent Abuse of Power headlines, and Senator Stevens Conviction headlines, do you believe the Alaskan vote will show a rejection of the politicians in 7 days?
Republicans are the majority in Alaska. They'll be voting for Stevens simply to retain his Senate seat. Then, if he has to go to jail or is thrown out of the Senate, a special election will have to be called to replace him. Though it's interesting that the mayor of Anchorage has a really slight lead in the polls now.
As it is now, if he resigns, the seat will probably go to a Democrat. And of course there's no question in my mind that they'll support Wilma Flinstone.
If it weren't for her, I really think that Bob Barr or Ron Paul could have taken Alaska's 3 electoral votes.
Not that I'm advocating anything I've said; just being realistic.
Alaska will consign it's electoral votes to McCain / Palin, and vote Stevens out of office. . . . it's just wonderful to have that crystal ball working again. . . I had missed it!
