So he wants to ban any law abiding citizen from being able to carry a gun? Do I have this correct?
As concealed, yes. Concealed requires you jump through a lot more hoops than an open carry, like fingerprinting and a 2-day course in some states.
Concealed is a great way for a lady to defend herself. Nothing detracts a mugger or rapist more than the thought of hot lead sunk in their body from a cute like pink gun in her purse.

Several states require a permit to carry openly too (GA comes to mind), and some (NY, SC for instance) only allow concealed carry (which requires a permit).
What about rocket launchers, why can't I have one of those? I have to be able to defend myself from armor plated deer.
If your state doesn't ban them you can buy them but they are regulated by the NFA. $200 tax (on every explosive round), registration, required. They come under the "destructive devices" category in the NFA. So a person with the money can have them.

They can easily bring down planes, that's why.
Comparing a .22 or 9mm with only the ability to kill an human perp to a rocket launcher?
