As long as we didn't have a quota stating that certain presidents have to be black, Jesse Helms would have no problem with it. He used to eat breakfast with hobos when his father brought them home for his mother to feed.
Since he was a Christian, I seriously doubt that he is burning in hell right now either. It is amazing to me how so many of you know so much, yet know so little.

I really don't know. However, as a Christian, I have a problem with other "Christians" bringing up the Bible, etc. and their religious views when you can see they are purely prejudice themselves. That is hypocritical in my eyes.

If I were half the man Jesse Helms were, I would have engendered about half as much hatred from half as many people around the country and world. I bet he really did a whole lot for North Carolina's black population too, now didn't he. Ask Harvey Gantt about that one.........
Him being a so-called Christian does not exempt him from the consequences of the evil he fostered and the horrible things he did while on Earth. I am sure God, with whom he no doubt had a personal relationship, reminded him of this when they spoke shortly after Jesse's death..........
