What I remember from the speech, is the crowd booing when McCain acknowledged Obama's win. If the speech is to be preserved, maybe that part should be deleted.

As long as they preserve the booing that his supporters were doing. Lets never forget what a hate filled campaign brings out in people...
The speech itself was ok. Al Gore gave a much better one after he won and wasn't allowed to be POTUS.
I aslo hope they preserve the way Palin left McCain hanging on the first handshake attempt followed by a hollow embrace. McCain gave Todd the fastest handshake in history.

Bill Maher ran the two speeches last night, including a clip from Kerry's concession to prove the difference in "class" between the boorish behavior of the repubs and the civility of the dems.
So the saddest part is that a truly good man cannot be the nominee of the Republican party because the goodness is manipulated out of them and replaced with the values of power, greed, and hate that was shown throughout the campaign. Booing the winner is a boorish behavior.
I agree that McCain gave a great speech. And I agree that his supporters ruined what should have been a positive moment for Sen. McCain at a disappointing time.
However, the attitude of his supporters was planted and fertilized during his campaign. Whether that kind of hate was his idea or that of the RNC, the fact remains that McCain's campaign spun out of control in a very negative way.
There were moments throughout that he showed us the McCain of yesterday but the process was 90% negative.
With that said, he did participate in what will historically be one of the most tranformational campaigns America has ever had. He has a place in history but that history is still being written. Some redemption may be in his future if he can reflect publicly on what compelled him to ruin himself in the name of the GOP.
And I'm sure interviews and a book are forthcoming.
All McCain was doing was being responsible after all these months of being irresponsible. Having his campaign make weak minded people FEAR OBAMA with a passion.he realized it was his duty to correct his mistake now that Obama has been elected president.
It's like saying you want to congratulate Dr. Frakenstein for killing the monster he created.
I was pleased with the way McCain conceded and with the way he shushed the nasty booers. But I also agree with the other posters that he ran a nasty, dishonorable campaign and forever stained his own good name. I like to think that he, himself, became appalled at the nasty underbelly of what the Republican party has become that he and Palin unleashed. We saw that when he shut up a supporter's lies and publicaly stated that no one should be afraid of Obama becuase he is a decent family man.
The man who ran and lost is unrecognizable with the man who ran and lost in 2000.
