I am still utterly shocked how you republicans can be so hypocritical.

You voted for McCain, correct? Wasn't John "the economy is fundamentally sound' McCain the man who said "I don't know much about the economy"?

Which is more arrogant? An obviously very intelligent young Obama with a new vision for America running the midst of an economic collapse, or a very old out-of-touch McCain from the lame-duck GOP who clearly stated that he knows nothing about the economy in the midst an economic collapse?....and that he would have to rely on his vice-president for policy making advise (he said that before he selected Sarah Palin). Imagine Sarah Palin making economic policy decisions .

Having Hillary lurking about an Executive branch stuffed with former Clinton cabinet members effectively makes Obama a figure head for the White House.

And you make that pronouncement based on - what, your amazing psychic powers?

Who's going to be sitting at the President's desk again?
Who has the ability to hire and fire again?

Let's get something straight, Obama OWNS the Clinton's now.

Obama has much more political clout than the Clintons'. Obama is now their boss. Bill Clinton is no longer the democratic superstar...Obama is.

Hillary Clinton (and Bill) can disagree with Obama as much as she wants, but at the end of the day, she answers to him.

That's EXACTLY right - and in fact, it's likely that Obama chose Hillary specifically BECAUSE she's strong-willed and will argue her case. Obama has said MANY TIMES that he wants people with a variety of views around him - rather than the "Yes Men" that Junior has surrounded himself with. He clearly patterning his Cabinet after that of Lincoln - whom he greatly admires.

Guys, Obama is used to strong-willed people having opposite views, from his early Harvard Days when he was President of Harvard Law Review. He prefers that type of atmosphere... and yes he's a lover of Abraham Lincoln which means he has tried ideas in the past... heres some links to get acquainted with his early style.

If that's the case, why isn't Obama stocking his cabinet from his army of political supporters? More than half of the Executive positions up for grabs are former Bill Clinton nominees.

Not only are more than half of these spots already "going Clinton", the THE ENTIRE FIRST ROUND of cabinet announcements (except Rahm Emanuel) were former Clinton appointees.

Aides are gophers... now out of this list...

Clinton
Secretary of State: Warren M. Christopher, 1993, Madeleine Albright, 1996

Obama
Secretary of State: (pending) Hillary Clinton - no position in Clinton Admin. (for a moment dealing strictly with facts.)

Clinton
Secretary of the Treasury: Lloyd Bentsen, 1993, Robert E. Rubin, 1995–1999, Lawrence H. Summers, 1999

Obama
Secretary of Treasury: (pending) Tim Geithner (was a Clinton aide.) at present President of the NY Fed. Vice Chair Federal Open Market Committee.

Clinton
Attorney General: Janet Reno, 1993

Obama
Attorney General: (pending) Eric Holder (aide to Reno) - at present litigation partner "who handles, among other matters, complex civil and criminal cases, domestic and international advisory matters and internal corporate investigations." Covington and Burling LLP

Clinton
Chief of Staff: Mack McLarty 1993–1994, Leon Panetta 1994–1997, Erskine Bowles 1997–1998, John Podesta 1998–2001

Obama
Chief of Staff: Rahm Emanuel (Clinton adviser) House Democratic Caucus chairman, Representing Illinois: at present - Chief of Staff

The only appointee I know was Eric Holder:

"in 1988, Mr. Holder was nominated by President Reagan to become an Associate Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. "

"In 1993, President Clinton nominated Mr. Holder to become the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia."

"In 1997, President Clinton appointed Mr. Holder to serve as Deputy Attorney General, the number two position in the United States Department of Justice."

Covington & Burling LLP | Biographies | Eric H. Holder Jr. (http://www.cov.com/eholder/ - broken link)

I'm not aware of other appointees... so will be interested reading about it.

I think Hilary and Obama started out wanting to help our country, and feel to a degree they still want to do that very thing. One must realize that to be a politician, there has to be a strong belief in oneself as well as a bit of ego. It has to be extremely hard to pick up a newspaper, turn on a tv and/or radio and hear/see horrid things about you. So, a thick skin is also needed.

As for Hil as SOS. I do believe she and Obama met and she promised to get him elected, but in turn had a couple of requests if she managed to do so. He got elected, she got a good spot on his team.

I do believe it might be for the good of the country to have someone other than a 'yes-man' at your side all the time. If Bush had had people to tell him that things were sinking, he might have been able to do things differently. But, alas, hindsight is 20/20. So, before condemning the cabinet that Obama is building, consider that he does not do anything spur of the moment. This has been thought out down to the nth degree.

Let's give him a chance to see if he can manage to clean up some of the mess we find ourselves in.
