ATLANTA - Asante Bradford gave his bosses nearly three months notice that he would not be at his desk on Jan. 20.
A day after Barack Obama's historic presidential win, Bradford knew he wanted to be able to whoop it up when Obama was sworn in as the nation's first black chief executive — and that he couldn't do that at work.
A historic page is turning in history. Blacks get to see a black POTUS far earlier than many dreamed. 3 months time ahead asking for a vacation day is more than adequate.
The story is real but comes under the Captain Obvious category of stories.
Next up: Unions are happy Obama won! OMG REALLY?!?
Some black people are taking the day off to go to the inauguration? Wowee, stop the presses. Quite a few caucasian, hispanic, and asian people are also taking the day off to go to the inauguration. That's not exactly news, either.
On Tuesday we'll see crowds of people walking over the bridges. It will not be a sea of black people, it will be a sea of people from every race. And I think we all know that.

Ummm, wow. This is an unusual thread from you, John. I'm disappointed in you.

Sorry, John, generally I like the articles you find. But this one was stupid.
Aren't White people going probably taking the day off also?

The OP didn't choose the title of the article, MSNBC did. If any station supported Obama, it was MSNBC home of Chris Matthews and Olbermann. John 1960, CD News Reporter, usually just posts an article and doesn't comment.

I appreciate that the OP does not write the title of MSNBC articles. He does, however, choose which articles to post on CD.
There are hundreds, and likely thousands of articles about the upcoming inauguration to choose from. Articles from every perspective, and every political POV. This one was a bad choice on his part, IMO.

This white person is taking the day off too. My employer allows us to take personal days. So what?
Many Black politicians have shown that corruption is not tied to race.
So it's a first for America to have a Black President. It probably won't be the last time either.
The Democratic Party is a corrupt sham. Look at Illinois politics. I don't care if Barack was born on the Moon. He could be purple and still screw America.
Why not take a day off to go fishing in the summertime instead? Oh yeah, PETA won't allow it.
