I got shocked by some - to be honest not some, but many - very stupid comments in this thread. I thougt that in america there are more people than here in Germany who question the american wars for power and econonmy. But it seems to the opposite.

People all over the world hate the american foreign policy, tens of millions suffered because of this dirty wall- street- buisiness, ask people in Korea, Vietnam, Latin America and the middle east!

And you "cowboy- heroes" justify torture, wars and blood for oil (middle east), weapons (to run the weapon buisiness and production, the "old" ones must be used, drugs (Latin america, Afghanistan)

But people also are attracted by this america that stands for freedom and justice

But this image of america was ALWAYS (not only since G.W. Bush) a tightrope walk

It´s people like you who these famous prejudices about the ignorant yankees

Please don't think all of the U.S. feels this way. We definitely don't. That's about as bad as thinking all Germans must have been Nazi sympathizers. Some were outranked; some were out"voted"; some were scared.

Us too. Until now.

What are you going to do; either you put your head in the sand and let them get away with killing people or you attack Afghanastan. After you decide to and raid Afghanastan, you get word that most of the guys you are looking for have move into Iraq, and not only have they moved there but Iraq is giving them weapons and money to train people to kill your army, and your intelligence says that these people have enough chemical weapons to start another world war. What are you going to do. Turn and come back to your country and wait for the first strike, or go on offensive and protect your country at whatever cost.
Except none of that actually happened.

All the WMD we could possibly have imagined Iraq having is not a hiccup in a hurricane compared to what we have: ten thousand hydrogen bombs! They were not a threat to the United States. Poland was a more credible threat to Germany in 1939 than Iraq ever was to the United States.

Congratulations!!!

You are nominated to be considered for the 'Most Stupid and Retarded Comment of the Century' award...

This is based upon the astronomically retarded mental association between keeping Gitmo open, and being a Patriot...

Of course I know that

because of that I avoided generalisation by the expressions "some" and "many"

American students who come here always say that they feel, that america is more progressive and debunke these stereotypes about racism and cowboy- mentality in the US, but in many discussion threads I experience the opposite!

In this anonymous situation the user tells sometimes his real attitude which he hides in general in his role in the society

In Germany it´s exactly the same with the attitude towards the muslim turks and like that

I hear no reasons, just more name calling. Why is it that when a lib has no answer, they name call.
