You're welcome. It is true that if you don't want to talk about something, you are free not to, and I've learned on CD that it's not my place to keep someone else from discussing an issue if they want. Sorry if I was curt.

The article the OP referenced was published yesterday, so someone thought it was news.

Frankly, in my opinion, McCain was a poor choice to begin with and really didn't have any chance at all of winning the election, no matter who his running mate would have been. Oh, he may have done better with someone else, but it wouldn't have helped him much.

No need to be rude...
Your question was insulting. Nobody on the left is afraid of her. In fact, we sincerely hope that she's the nominee next round. We want her at the top of the ticket.

And her nomination in 2008 is important because it is very telling about the kind of party the GOP is. They can't be trusted to govern because they pull crap like that. And the GOP hasn't changed since November.

Did you see what they did in California recently? This is further proof they have no clue and are not in step with their constituencies. The Republicans, I mean. McCain's nomination should be proof of that as well.

Typically, people dwell on what it is they fear. For example, see the gun folks worried about new gun restrictions. The anti-socialists talking about the current administration. People carrying on about Sarah Palin, to me, are very worried about her, as you have written. I have been educated in this thread as to why.

All this regarding Palin has been analyzed and discussed many times over since she was first nominated.

If you think that question was insulting, you should have seen what I wrote to the California state Republican leadership. Everyone try to lighten up just a little bit.

Exactly! We're headed for a "Sudetenland" situation here in the southwest.:-(

Last I heard, the election was over.
It's about history. Isn't history an important subject?

History.........do we LEARN from history or not? Do we analyze historic events in order to learn for the future?

I think you could read through these threads and see what others, including a few who live in Alaska, have said about Sarah. I'll give you the highlights of my concerns:

She is lacking in knowledge. She didn't know what the VP's job was. She thought it was to "work" with the senate, and introduce legislation and the like. To me, that means she's pretty uniformed.
She didn't say anything about introducing legislation and the VP's role is as the head of the Senate.
I'd be willing to bet that Biden would not have even gotten that far.

Quote:
Despite all her vaunted "experience", she was the mayor of a small town in Alaska which she left in worse shape than it was when she took over. Go over to the thread Palin, Palin, Palin and look around. There are plenty of links to actual news articles. She has been governor of Alaska for ~ 2 years now, a state where the legislature meets for four months. Her record there is mixed, to say the least.
And what did Barack Obama do exactly? Neither he nor Biden have any executive experience whatsoever. We do not know how well they would have done running a government because neither of them ever did!

Quote:
She preaches "family values", but doesn't seem to live it. Frankly, I don't care about her daughter's baby; I think a lot of us with daughters of our own feel "there but for the grace of God go I". But, to harp about "abstinence only" when that obviously wasn't going on in her own home (just the opposite, really), is hypocritical.
Was she harping about abstinence? Not saying that she didn't, I'm just saying that I never heard any harping. How exactly do you know that she doesn't have family values?
How much time do you spend in the Palin household?

Quote:
Her religious views seem to be telling her that the things she does are "God's will". I like Abraham Lincoln's approach better myself: "We don't ask God to be on our side, we ask if we are on God's side".
Pretty thin Katiana, pretty thin.
