I was browsing the Gallup site today and came across the following poll, "Republican Base Heavily White, Conservative, Religious" (link below). Obviously this isn't Earth shattering news but I think it demonstrates the uphill climb the Republicans are facing if they want to stay relevant. I say that knowing it only takes four bad years for the current President for political climate to change. But longer term, this will be a huge issue if Republican's can't attract votes outside of its base. In a country that is quickly becoming more diverse, they may risk extinction. Consider that 27% of all Independents are something other white. Of all Democrats, 36% aren't white. Republicans, on the other hand, contain just 11% non-whites.

This article isn't intended to bash Republicans but I wanted your thoughts. How big of an impact will this have on the Republican party? Is it possible for a third party to step up and replace them? Will they appeal to non-whites and how?

Republican Base Heavily White, Conservative, Religious

That is the same thogn that was said about the democrats in most of teh last elctions besides clinton. No surprise that demcrats would think thsi. They even said that no left wing democrt could be elcted like gore and kerry givc\ing clnotns quotes as proof. They also said that no conservative like Reagan could be elected but it seems that people want chnage when a administrtion does succeed in making things better. As Buden said the other day the pendilum swings constantly.

America is not a white majority country and never will be again.

Those who cannot deal with that are doomed to wander the dustbin of history wondering what happened.

Just looking at the title of this thread demonstrates to me what America is lacking in Government.
1) checks and balances

2) true representation of the people.

All in all Those choices suck.

Really? I thought 80% would be enough for a majority.
