Conservative republicans will return in 2010.

Bush I and II were not conservatives.

Excellent response!

It's mind-numbing the sheer number of people who would rather the government do for them what they could do for themselves. As a result, we have become a nation of entitlement pansies suckling off the teet of a corrupt government. Eventually the electorate becomes just as corrupt, and the revolving door spins faster and never stops. The people depend on the government because the government depends on the people because the people depend on the government. Leading the charge are the liberals, and this country will suffer immensely for it.

Neither was Reagan then.

All that you need is two political parties that are always willing to offer easy government solutions for every need of the voters, but never willing to make the tough decisions necessary to finance the government largess that results. Voters will occasionally change their allegiance from one party to the other, but the bacchanal will continue regardless of the names on the office doors

Yeah, it's a good thing Reagan didn't sink loads of money into defense or anything.

The symbolism back then was quite clear RED=Soviet Union=Communism=Big Government, socialism, etc. At some point recently there was a COORDINATED effort by the media to make the switch to what we see today.
Not quite, blue represented the incumbent party, while red was the challenger. The coordinated effort you speak of occurred in 2000, since the election remained the center of attention, people constantly saw Gore (D) as having blue states, and Bush (R) having red, hence the change from the media later in 2004, and the mindset adapted by Americans who tuned in to see the latest developments.

Few countries worldwide have red assigned to a Conservative party, but then again the US has always gone against the norm..

I'm glad there was no need for him to beef up the military since Carter spent so much time building it up during his 4 years...

I never said any of that it was a negative, but saying Reagan didn't spend is junk.

Not very difficult to do. With the world at your fingertips via the internet, you too can do some research and reading instead of depending on the archaic Republican re-writings of history on cave walls.

The Real Reagan Legacy
Debunking Myths About Reagan

Six years into Reagan's presidency, Democrats retook the Senate, and began to reverse some of Reagan's horrendous policies. By that time, Reaganomics had "accomplished" quite a bit: doubled the national debt, caused the S&L crisis, and nearly wrecked the financial system.

The GOP’s Reaganesque Tall Tales

Sensing their own smallness, contemporary politicians often seek to puff themselves up by appealing to myth and legend. For Republicans, there is no mythology more appealing than that of Ronald Wilson Reagan, as the party’s presidential candidates eagerly demonstrated during their May 3 debate in the library that bears his name.
