I am pretty impressed with the guy overall. Seems a pretty smart and amazingly competent dude and fairly moderate, his boneheaded soda law notwithstanding.
Would he be a viable Presidential Candidate? I think he is Republican turned Independent.
No.. Bloomberg is for bigger government. He believes that laws should be made and enforced to legislate the personal lives and life styles of citizens in a supposedly free society. There's nothing Independent about him. He's far left.

Great. He can ban Big Gulps across the country, and tell us what else we can and cannot eat or drink.
But go ahead and support him. He would be the biggest help the Republicans could find.

Exactly.. His "his boneheaded soda law" is not a fluke. It's a representation of his ideology. He's still appealing that ruling and fighting for it in court.
Not a chance. Where would his support come from? Republicans and Libertarians don't like him and Democrats
will have their own candidate. I can't imagine a groundswell of support for him from any ideological corner.

It is kind of funny. Bloomberg is one of the most intelligent and competent mayors ever, yet he could get no support. Whereas people who would need a short course to fog a mirror (Bachmann, Santorum) have plenty of supporters. Funny, but also sad.
I think Bloomberg could actually do a very good job.

I'd think he'd be a good candidate too if not for his bigger government, dictator, want to act as my parent, anti second amendment, anti state rights, and anti personal freedom point of views. It works for NY because New Yorkers want government to take care of them, but it's not going to fly in the rest of the country, and he's the type of guy that won't give a damn about how people choose to live their lives. He's going to tell them what to do, how to do it, and then make legislation to enforce/strong arm everyone into living how he things they should live...

independent is not and never has been an ideology. it just means to not be part of a political party.
By definition, fascist, libertarians, socialist, progressive, conservatives, liberal can call be Independents.

There was a time when i agreed with Term limits. That time has passed. The vote of the people is the term limit. If you dont like your candidate, you simply vote them out.
Laws allow for term limits to be changed. Roosevelt won 4 terms as President of the United States and then we changed the law to limit it to 2 full terms. It can be changed back if the people and their representatives choose to.
