The anti-incumbent feelings are still there (big time), however, there has been a positive turnaround for the President and the Dems over the last few months.

"The public trusts Democrats more than Republicans to handle the major problems facing the country by a double-digit margin..."

And:

"Those polled also say they trust Obama over Republicans in Congress to deal with the economy, health care and, by a large margin, financial regulatory reform. And the president continues to get positive marks on his overall job performance, with, for the first time since the fall, a majority of independents approving."

It's not all positive, of course, but it interesting to see how quickly things can turn around, and what issues the President still has support on.
The ship is not sinking by any means

Yup.
Despite all the claims by the Wingnuts that Obama's approval rating is in the toilet, Obama has held on to a pretty good approval rating considering the depth of the recession - FAR better for example than Reagan. Now, as the economy recovers, we can expect to see his approval rating move back up to near 60% by the end of the year.

The American people want something to be done. The Repubs show NO inclination to do that, the Dems are trying, but will certainly take advantage of GOP obstruction, as much as possible. The voters do not want obstruction, they want action.

Barack Obama got elected because he was a terrific candidate and he was running against an angry old man who selected Sarah Palin as his running mate. His polls reflect the fact that he is not progressive enough.

He signed into law a Republican style health insurance bill that pushes customers to the private sector like the bill Mitt Romney signed in Massachusetts. If he pushed for the "public option" and got it passed, his poll numbers would be much higher.

He'll be fine in 2012 because the Republicans (the Party of "No") have nothing to offer to the voters, but smear
