Tuesday June 8th is the largest Primary date this year. Primaries will take place in California, Iowa, Maine, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, North Dakota, South Carolina, South Dakota, Virginia and runoffs in Arkansas and special election runoff in Georgia

Some of the highlights

Arkansas Senate. Dems- Senator Blanche Lincoln did not receive enough votes in the Primary to avoid a runoff, she will face off against Lt Gov Bill Halter. The winner will face Republican Congressman John Boozman in November.

Runoffs will also take place on the Dem side for the house seats in AR-01 and Ar-02, runoff on the GOP side in AR-03. AR-02 should be competitive in November. AR-01 could be competitive, but the Dems likely hold. AR-03 the GOP likely holds.

Another runoff will take place, this for the GA-9 special election. The runoff is between Tom Graves and Lee Hawkins, both are Repulicans and this is one of the staunchest Republican seats in all of Congress.

In California three Republicans are fighting to take on Barbara Boxer in November. It is between former HP CEO Carly Fiorina, former COngressman Tom Campell and tea party fav , California Assemblyman Chuck Devore,

In Nevada a long list of Republicans are running to face Reid in November, the three main candidates are former State Senator Sue Loweden, tea party fav Assemblywoman Sharon Angle, real estate owner Dan Tarkanian (son of legendary UNLV coach Jerry Tarkanian)

South Carolina. Probably the most bitter of all the primaries is for GOP Governor. Congressman Gresham Barrett, Lt Gov Andre Bauer, State Rep Nikki Haley, and Ag henry McMaster are running. The ugliness started around the time current GOP Gov Sanford's sex scandal and AWOL act started (he was term-limited anyway) and hasn't stopped since, The latest target has been Haley who has been accused of her own sex scandals and was called a r-a-g-h-e-a-d by State Senator Jake Knotts, a Bauer supporter who also called Obama the same name. Haley was an original frontrunner, but after the Sanford scandal broke saw her chances diminish as she was a close ally, has now regained momentum and is the front runner. 50% needed to avoid runoff

On the Dem side its State Senator Robert Ford, State Senator Vincent Sheheen, and State Superintendent of Education Jim Rex. The race is likely between Sheheen and Rex with an edge to Sheheen.

In S.C 50% will be needed on each the GOP & Dem side to avoid a runoff, the runoff would occur on June 22nd.

Chuck DeVore is probably the lesser of all evils, when it comes to the candidates for Senate. If only he would go full non-interventionist and drop the foreign aid and Israel BS. I'm probably going to vote for Chelene Nightingale for governor. She won't win, but I'd rather vote for her than throw away my vote by voting for Whitman or Brown.

If Andre Bauer wins the primary I will be forced to vote for a Democrat in November.

GA-9, Nathan Deal's old Congressional seat. He resigned in order to focus his time on his run for Governor. No one received the 50% needed in the actual primary so a runoff is taking place, the runoff is between two Republicans and is in an uber Republican district.

Just an update

In SC the GOP race for Gov will go into a runoff, with 95% of precincts reporting it looks like Nikki Haley will fall just short of reaching the 50% plateau needed to avoid a runoff and will face Congressman Greshman Barrett. Winner will face Democratic State Senator Vincent Sheehen.

Surprise for Dem Senate as Alvin Greene defeats Vic Rawl to face Jim Demint in November.

The GOP will have runoffs in districts 1,3,4 and possibly 6. The most notable is in the 4th as Incumbent Congressman Inglis only received 27% of the vote, his top challenger Gowdy 40%

In GA-9 Special Election the Republican Graves has won.

In Arkansas with 54% of the precincts reporting Halter leads 51-49
