You think Norah objects to being used as eye candy?

Nah, I didn't think so.

Personally, I'm an Erin Burnett fan. I can watch her pregnant, on a bad hair day, sans makeup... IMO the smartest anchor on TV and just happens to look great all the time.

I'm a Kelly Evans (CNBC) fan myself.

If she's gorgeous, why not do it?

Do you also complain about Beyoncé?

Yeah but it is Beyoncé's job to promote herself as an artist and part of that involves her sex appeal. A news anchor is a journalist first and foremost and not supposed to let anything get in the way of that.

That said it is a common staple in this world that pretty women journalists have a better chance then not so pretty women journalists at getting ahead. And they know it.

Doesn't mean a pretty woman can't functions as well as a journalist as a not so pretty woman.

You're kidding, right? News anchors haven't been true journalists since Walter Cronkite. Today they're all chosen because the look the part, and their journalistic ability and integrity come in a distant second. Besides, news isn't even really journalism anymore, it's all political spin-slanted infotainment drivel, and todays news anchors are more actor than journalist.

I'd say people like Peter Jennings disprove that.

Notice how no smart, qualified yet unattractive woman has ever gotten one of these jobs.

I'm ok with that to a degree. Qualified + attractive is better than qualified + unattractive for TV. It's a visual medium.

That's not what I said. However, she can function without the plunging neck lines and the slit skirts too. They know exactly what they are doing.

No, I'm not kidding and I don't believe what you just said.
