I think it's not that it's UNPOPULAR...it just has a lot of serious competition all around it. I mean, it's an hour from Vienna...and Prague is nearby, and Munich is not too far away. Budapest isn't all that far away either.

When a person's trip is limited, it's difficult to devote much time to little Bratislava or Slovakia. Particularly when all those other cities around it offer A LOT...way more than most people's time allows.

That's an excellent point, I mean how many people really thing of Uruguay if they want to experience gaucho culture or Guatemala when thinking of the Mayans.
