I suppose I could qualify as a non-Americanophile.
I tend to identify more negative aspects of American culture and lifestyle than I identify positives.
However, all cultures have their positives and negatives, no matter how you twist it.
I am curious as to what kind of qualities would Europeans who are not necessarily fond of American culture credit America with?
Personally, I have always been impressed with Americans' sense of efficiency, organization and planning.
They are absolutely amazing. My inability to lead a back-to-back "to do" lifestyle probably contributes to my incompatibility with this culture. They remind me of bees. This can be a great thing or a bad thing (to be as efficient and focused as a bee). In today's world though, such abilities can be very advantageous.
I continue to admire Americans for this quality.
I like them as their not as snobby as some in the UK .. or am I fooling myself, but thats what Ive heard. Any Americans Ive met visiting Scotland have been lovely,, and I also met nice people holidaying in Florida while I was over there.. much nicer manners too.
Despite all of it's problems, America has shaped a people who have an entrepreneurial spirit, who innovate through risk taking and very hard work. I also admire the outgoing American nature. Some people say Americans are rude, but the other side of that is that they're not treating you with kid gloves and they're not putting on airs. What you see is what you get and I suppose that can be refreshing.

From what i'm reading over on the political forum these traits are nowhere to be found.
Americas big claim to fame? theres lotsa money over there.
The people in general are usually nice as long as you avoid some topics,
I also find them a bit clueless on world geography and some of the rudimentary aspects of the places they are visiting.
with the US being such a big country, I dont think many have to leave for holidays etc the way we do in the UK.. .Ive learned more about geography through travel than I ever did at school..
Given that, over time, there have been ample critiques of various aspects of the US culture on these forums, I wanted to keep this thread focused mainly on the positives of American culture - as seen by those who are NOT generally speaking what you would call "Americanophiles".
Of course, if you ask an "Americanophile", he will find almost everything about America endearing; but I wanted to hear from those who would not qualify under this category.

Still better than everything else I've ever seen; or could it be that I am originally from a country that scores SO disastrously on the "efficiency, organization and planning" tests ...that I am still in awe of Americans after so many years of living in the US.

I'm kind of an Americanophile, but largely based on one thing, perhaps the best thing the US has contributed: popular music.
The US gave us soul, gospel, folk, blues, jazz, swing, rock'n'roll, rock, and was pretty instrumental in punk, electro, dance.etc - pretty much most genre you can think of.
