The audience here seems to have more Europeans and/or Europhiles, and it requires knowing the city ... and possibly a genre of films specific to Spain.
I was in South America in 2003. Fighting off jet lag, a Spanish movie came in on the hotel TV, which I was watching half asleep.
It takes place in a nicer condo/apt. building in Madrid. Everybody in each of the flats has some dramatic story going on (cheating, kink, gold digging, etc.) with other people in the building ... and outside the building. Everybody's lives cross in the cafe at street level beneath this condo/apt. building.
I don't know if it's Almodovar. It is thus from 2003, or prior. Do you know what this movie might be? Thanks.
Thank you for this lead. If one of the subplots involves a woman having an affair with a "big cheese" in film or TV so she can get into that industry, then this is the movie. Do you recall if there is a subplot like that?
The first film in which I thought was also La Comunidad, but I don't remember any subplot like that in the movie and I don't remember any other movie with a building as a main plot, but I'm not a big fan of Spanish cinema, so I can't be very helpful.
Other Spanish production it could be is the TV comedy "Aquà no hay quien viva" that was focused in the inhabitants of a building, there was a creepy "bar" where the guys of the building spent most of the time, and one the characters was an actress/model wannabe. It was broadcast in Latin America also.
But the building was not nice at all, was really dreary

I think we're going somewhere. It seemed like at least an hour, though, so I thought it was a movie. The bar was not chic. It was like a bar/cafe in any town in Italy, but it happened to be on the ground floor of the Madrid building. There were some people living in the building who appeared to have decent jobs, so I assumed it was nice. What were some of the other characters' "trips" or unusual situations? Maybe that will confirm the movie/series.
For some reason I can't fathom, in LatAm they fancy "Aquà no hay quien viva". Kind of disgusting comedieta.
