Well most White men are crazy for them and a lot of men who are upper middle class and such are crazy for them too. Blonde is still the standard of beauty here.
I'm not sure where you live, but I can assure you that there IS NO "standard of beauty" throughout the US. Not only do "norms" vary widely from state to state and region to region, personal preferences outweigh "norms" and "standards" every time.
Look, it's OK if you prefer Nordic blondes. But please don't assume that most people in the US do as well. That's simply ridiculous.
When I went on vacation with my family (husband, kids and my parents) to Eastern Europe a few years ago, my dad, who normally is smitten by brunettes with big, dark eyes, could not stop himself from repeating over and over again, "I've never seen so many beautiful women in one area!" Though their looks varied widely, overall they tended to have high cheekbones and a slightly Asian tilt to their eyes, and tended to be smaller and shorter than Western Europeans.
We also noticed that both the men and women were generally very helpful, warm, and friendly.
It really depends on what region of the US you are from and what social class you grew up in. You will find many norse looking women around the great lakes states. you will find more Latino looking women in the southwest. The blond blue eyed woman has been seen in Hollywood as the standard of beauty up until now. I think as the US becomes more hispanic/asian that ideal will change.
American men (throughout the years) seems to prefer (fake) blondes:
Men's Health - 100 Women of All Time
Jennifer Aniston (peak popularity: 90/00s)
Raquel Welch (blonde in One Million Years B.C.) (peak popularity: 60s)
Marilyn Monroe (peak popularity: 50-60s)
Britney Spears (peak popularity: 90-00s)
Madonna (peak popularity: 80-90s)
Ursula Andress (blonde in Dr. No) (peak popularity: 60s)
Bettie Page (a brunette) (peak popularity: 50s)
Pamela Anderson (peak popularity: 90s)
Jane Fonda (blonde in Barbarella) (peak popularity: 60s)
Angelina Jolie (a brunette) (peak popularity: 90/00s)
Sharon Stone (peak popularity: 90s)
Scarlett Johansson (peak popularity: 00s)
Catherine Deneuve (very hot as a blonde in Belle de Jour) (peak popularity: 60s)
Megan Fox (a brunette) (peak popularity: 00/10s)
Jenny McCarthy (peak popularity: 90s)
Christie Brinkley (peak popularity: 80/90s)
Anna Nicole Smith (peak popularity: 90s)
Shakira (dirty blonde) (peak popularity: 00s)
Heather Locklear (peak popularity: 80/90s)
Heidi Klum (peak popularity: 00s)
3/20 are known as brunettes. The rest are (fake) blonde.
Peak popularity = as sex symbols
Thanks for the list.
The only blonde woman on this list who is a stand out is Catherine Deneuve because, more so than her blonde mane, there is something really exotic and cultured about her. With that face, she'd draw just as much attention if she was a brunette. The other thing is that most people who can recognize typical looks of European nationals would peg her as French, which she is. Lucky Marcello Mastroianni. See, the French and the Italians do have a love-hate relationship, but I see more love than hate.
Some of these ladies look CHEAP:
Marilyn Monroe, Madonna, Pamela Anderson, and Anna Nicole Smith
Others look boringly SoCal or generic American:
Jennifer Aniston, Britney Spears, Heather Locklear and Christie Brinkley
The only other attractive ones on here are:
Raquel Welch (and it's not just that attribute) and Angelina Jolie, only if she was walking through a supermarket and not a star (though on a personal level, she's kind of sickening)
There's one blonde who surprisingly isn't on the list, and would qualify as beautiful - Cybill Shepherd, in her prime:
Here you go, half Irish (maybe also part English) and half Spanish, and 9 times divorced - probably the most beautiful woman on the screen, again, in her prime:
I find Audrey Hepburn one of the most beautiful women in the world, sweet features with a great beauty. I was surprised ad well about the fact many people think she was American.

Audrey Hepburn is known for her beauty and class. She never morphed to being quasi-vulgar, the way that Elizabeth Taylor did. Neither of them are American, but they are Anglo. The thing about Audrey Hepburn is that she has always resembled a porcelain doll. Maybe that's what makes her unique.

I think women are more into Hepburn than men. She is known for her elegant style and classic beauty. The same goes for Jackie O. Men, in general, want "cheap" eye candy (T&A). That explains the success of Marilyn Monroe, Pamela Anderson and Britney Spears.
