What it has to do with being a must-see city?? You British guys are confusing everything. French people come to London because the emplyment market in Britain is much better than in our more backward latin country. Compared to Paris, London is attractive for its labor, economic dynamism, finance, etc. compared to Paris and France (in that way London is more similar to NYC than Paris or Rome). But this is just not at all the subject here.

I don't think that Tourists want to go to Europe for its sport facilities, its caribean carnivals or its English-speaking theatral scene... They want to be immerged in a different ambiance and culture, discover something else that the "globish" culture, in a old urban layout and landscape...

That's why Paris and Rome are well above than London. London is probably better to work and live the global modern society, but that doesn't mean it is good as a "must-see" European attraction... London is considered by many almost not be European . Go to the US, ask the people what is the quintessential European city, it won't be London. London is usually seen by Americans as an "intermediary step" before entrering in the exoticness of "real" Europe.

What a way to put London down, London is also a historic city just because it isn't a proper European city. And the link as alot to do with being ''must see' the 400,000 French people could easily travel to any other Northern European city not just London so don't discount that.

Anyway this link below shows that neither Paris or London are most popular anymore...

French user don't be fooled by those numbers, it is a big overstatement of the french consulate to get more money from the French government.
In reality, there were only around 130,000 people born in France in UK according the latest official census.
Around 66,000 people born France in London.

You just need to use your brain to understand that the 400,000 are a big overstatement.
With 400,000 French would be the largest foreign born community (much more than Indian, Polish, Pakistanese). There would be a lot of french supermarkets and other shops everywhere.

You forget about the language. Everyone has to learn English at school in France. You won't find as much people able to speak Dutch, German or Danish as English. That one of the reason why London is attractive; The English languags status. Said that I know some friends who move to the Netherlands or Germany for their jobs.

But there are more living in London. Having a visit and choosing to spend your LIFE in a city are polar opposites. Paris may be a good day or two out but London is an amazing place to live. From the music scene to the west end you can have a holiday every time you step out the door in London.

I have nothing against Paris, lovely place, but London is far more fun place to be IMO.

How do you know the life of Paris? Most of your opinion about Paris seem to be based on tourist stereotypes.
Honestly, when you visit the Louvre, the Eiffel tower and other monuments, you see nothing of the city.

The fact is that there isn't 400,000 french people living in London, according the 2011 census there were 66,654 people born in France living in London.
There were 129,804 people born in France living in England and Wales in 2011.

The fact that there is more French in London (not as much as you believe) than English in London is based on language learning.
More French people speak English than English people speak French.
Many French people come in France to have a professional experience in English or to study.
