Romania and Bulgaria are not even using the same alphabet.
Croatia and Slovenia could easily fuse without a problem.

2) Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Netherlands, and Denmark
3) Spain, Portugal and Andorra
4) UK, Ireland
5) Norway and Sweden
6) Italy, Malta

One would reason these countries all have their culture and history etc. Well, China has been broken into many small countries in the past 3000 years, with various region having vastly difference culture, lifestyle and language, yet it manages to be one big country.
I don't get why people always want to create bigger units instead of smaller ones. Just like with companies and what not...
Smaller units are way better to govern and correct in case there are problems.
Humans want to feel that they belong to one unit, and not to the others. There are lots of peoples in China that would rather have their own, independent unit, but they are kept within China by mere violence.

Western Europeans : France, UK-Ireland, Benelux, Germany, Scandinavia in a less extend. Those are cultural, historical, economical and geographical close cultures.
Mediterranean or Southern europeans : Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, maybe Albania. Very close geographically and culturally.
Eastern europeans : from Hungary to european Russia (even if I know that it is controversial for Poland, Bohemia or Hungary - considering themselves as "Central europeans").

It is, by history (included in the Roman Empire).

Britain is also very romanized by archeology and geography : a lot of British roads come from the romans :

More, many British big cities have been founded by the Romans : London, Manchester, Newcastle, Colchester, York etc...There is an indisputable Roman influence. We can still find Roman ruins or architecture.

Still, I think modern Britain is little Roman in terms of culture, which obviously is what this thread is about. Which countries fit together in terms of culture, not in terms of roads dating back to Roman times

If we use the word "Roman", excepted the historical heritage, I don't see (real antic Roman culture doesn't exist longer). Even the Italian language is not really roman.

Wow. That's a very bold statement. What is Roman culture? Gladiator fights, not having the letters K and U and gladiuses?

You have a good point here.
