It may not be politically correct, but mentality can influence behavior. And mentality is different from place to place. Car drivers are also more reckless in some regions than in others...
I have lived in both Germanic and Southern places and people down here definitely drive more aggressively.

You have no idea. Spain is the safest on the road together with Sweden, Netherlands, United Kingdom ... Do not be so much prejudice with Latin because many things are far ahead, gay marriage, way high speed

Here in Portugal the situation is also improving. And you know why? Because authorities here (not me, I have not made that up as I have no interest in making my country of choice look worse than it is) have realized that people were too reckless, now there are many more controls and awareness programs etc. And it helps.
By the way, that train driver has joked before that he would like to race with his train against a police car.
Still, I am sorry for him, I am sure he feels horrible. And he openly admits it was his fault.
We have decreased the statistics. There are many controls, card for points, radars, etc.. The recklessness of a person is not attributable to any one country should not be exaggerated. That driver does not represent all Spanish drivers
Of course he doesn't represent ALL Spanish drivers, I never said that. What I am saying is that the AVERAGE driver in countries like Portugal or Spain still drives less carefully than drivers in Germanic countries like Scandinavia.
The Spanish do not want to have German mentality, we are very happy with what we are. We have many virtues
Sure, same here. Oddly the Portuguese I talk to look at me in disbelief when I tell them Germany is no example to follow But driving carefully is not a Germanic thing, the Japanese also drive very carefully, and they are anything but Germanic
In Spain not conducted as in Portugal or in Rome, which is a mess. Some will be a crazy and most do not. The Spanish are so cautious or reckless as the Germans
