Anybody here live in a place/country where every Tom, Jack & Jill can just have fireworks at the back of their house? Ish is annoying & DANGEROUS. I like how in most places places in North America ONLY the government can crack up fireworks. Why are backyard fireworks not illegal in otherwise civilised Western European countries?

Long ago are the times when we were having a fireworks fight in the old WWII AA-trenches. Ha, haa, it was so fun firing a miniature rocket towards the chest of and opponent, and then after the fight we went around the 'hood' and blew up some mailboxes with fireworks.

Those were the times.

WTF? What language you speak? Too bad I am not allowed to curse you in your own European language! This is not about a European language but about dangerous fireworks!

Stop pretending to be Dutch by throwing in random Dutch words in your posts, it's so annoying. Yes, we can see that you know how to use Google Translate, congratulations. But you're not fooling anyone. You're not Dutch and no, having a Dutch great-great-grandfather (or whatever) doesn't count.

Just had to get that off my chest.

If this is a real question--I live in a place where everyone shoots off fireworks in their yards. In Florida itis legal to buy fireworks but it is illegal and a felony to set them off. Unfortunately the police do not not bother to try to stop or fine them. They say there are too many people to monitor. If you call them they will come but will not do anything. It's dangerous and obnoxious. We had a rocket come through our lanai roof and land in the pool!

That's just what I was thinking ... as I was riding my opafiets past some molens while munching on hot oliebollen.

In Hawaii EVERYONE sets them firecrackers on New Year's Eve. It's an Asian thing. It's the one night a year when air pollution in Honolulu reaches 'unhealthful' levels.
