I am saying Copenhagen is a capital city and is significantly wealthier than Malmo. If Malmo was near Stockholm, they would commute there instead. Malmo has one of the lowest average incomes in Sweden.

The country with the highest cost of living. But that is also the flip side of the problem, the cost of living is high.

Actually wages in Sweden are higher than Germany, but cost of things are slightly cheaper in Germany.
All rental apartments in Sweden are under rent control. It doesn't mean the prices will be low, just that people living in the city for a long time pay less than the ones who moved into the city recently.

Rent control does not lead to cheap housing over time, because it limit construction of rent housing. Rent control has been proven to be a disasterous policy every time it has been attempted, but it is hard to remove because some people benefit from it.

The wages in Malmo are not much lower than Sweden in general. For instance if you are a receptionist with no experience then the average after tax is 1420 euros in Skåne and 1590 euros in Stockholm. Calculating in rents the salary is essentially the same.

Not all of Sweden is based on people in Malmö.
Of course, but in some European countries even if you learn the language you will still struggle to find a job. Once you find a job it will be a job way below your skill and it will be paid poorly.

That is why job market is more important than wage level. Because in countries like Germany you can find a decent job, which you are unlikely to find in Sweden.

It is true that all of Sweden is based on people in Malmo, but Malmo is not extremly different from the rest of Sweden.

FWIW..

Quote:
In 2004, the rate of wage-earners was 63%, compared to 74% in Stockholm and 71% in Gothenburg. This in turn led to Malmö municipality in 2007 having the 9th lowest median income in Sweden.
Stockholm Municipality is 31st in Sweden with a mean annual income of 27,976 euros, and for Malmo it's 21,197 euros. The wealthiest municipalities are part of Stockholm's urban area (Danderyd is first).

Here are the top 5 locations by average income (euros):

Danderyd, Stockholm County 43,744
Täby, Stockholm County 34,872
Lidingö, Stockholm County 36,648
Ekerö, Stockholm County 31,225
Sollentuna, Stockholm County 31,887

What country are you form, Camlon?

You are comparing oranges to apples. Sure, Stockholm has a lot of good jobs which are paid well, but will an immigrant get those kind of jobs?

Of course not, their qualifications will be seen as inferior to Swedish qualifications, their job experience will be seen as inferior, their language skills are inferior and the employer will doubt if they are willing to stay long term. Remember that there are fierce competition for those jobs even for Swedes.

As an immigrant you are likely to end up working as a cleaner, receptionist, cashier, etc. And those people are not paid much better in Stockholm than in Malmo. You can see that here http://www.lonestatistik.se

Again, you need to look at the disposable income. You an make 200 000 Dollars per month and pay 199 000 Dollars in taxes vs. 3 000 and 1 000. You'll be worse off.
And Irelad leads when it comes to disposable income according to the OECD.

Ireland does not lead in disposable income

Disposable income (euro)
Switzerland 4047
Norway 3527
Luxembourg 3189
Denmark 3113
United Kingdom 2496
Finland 2321
Sweden 2268
Ireland 2160
Netherlands 2136
France 2128
Austria 2114
Germany 2054
Belgium 1946
Italy 1925
Spain 1615
Iceland 1395
Slovenia 1000
Greece 818
Portugal 805

As Switzerland, Norway and Germany have low unemployment rates, then I would recommend those countries.
