I have lived too long on this planet and will see the end of the UK being just that. I will never get to see London of the 60's. I believe that people should assimilate to the country they are moving too and hold dear its values and cultures. Not going to happen and sadly Powel was right. I will always love you Londoners.....

You do realise that Enoch Powell was one of the architects of mass immigration when he was Minister of Health in the 1950s.
Religion (and by extension, culture) is an issue. Race is not. People are constantly conflating the two. The need to have a unicultural society is perfectly fair, because culture is what unifies people. The need to have a uniracial society is fascist bunkum.
There are people on all sides (i.e. Western and non-Western peoples) who falsely associate race/ethnicity with culture. The two are loosely correlated but this correlation is not set in stone and is rapidly decreasing.
Multiculturalism is a terrible idea. Immigration of people who can integrate is a good idea.
The recent phenomenon of white, ethnic Europeans converting to radical Islam, and on the flip side, the seamless integration of many Sikhs and Gurkhas into British society, proves my point.
The issue is no longer about immigration - the horse left the barn a long time ago. The issue is how to contain radical Islam.
