None of the current heads of states really has any power on industry and economy at this point, especially in Europe. He could be anything, it would not matter.

hollande is a joke of a leader , incredibly unimpressive man all round irrespective of his dismal handling of the french economy , plenty of leftist leaders with tonnes of charisma and presence

you must be joking , the state is very involved in the economy in most eurozone countries , thats not to say that industry is outright public owned however

The state is trying to be involved in the economy but really, France is still much closer to the US than to post-war USSR.
