Internet connections in Italy are much worse than in other countries and as expensive as others.

I have a USA passport. I used googled map to check out Pescara, Italy. Extraordinarily beautiful. Pity about the internet, that would make it hard for me.

How's the internet connectivity in Spain? I've been to Madrid, which I found beautiful and fascinating. I live in Southern California after living on the East Coast of the US for many years. I'm not wishing to live in cold places again. I'll just go visit during the summer.

Is Greece to much in the middle of an economic meltdown to stay for any period? Or very cheap?

First good piece of advice in this thread. No work permit no telecommuting.

If you like the scenery, Romania has wonderful scenery and one of the best Internet connections in the world (though there are lots of aspects to take into consideration).

Does it have to be a big city? What about one of the towns on scenic Lake Constanz, in southern Germany? What about Ljubljana or Dubrovnik, on the Adriatic? You have tons of options. London or Paris probably wouldn't be affordable, anyway.Get creative with it.

Considering that language may be an obstacle, that London is expensive, other larger cities in the UK being colder and internet connection being a slight issue in the southern European countries, I would go for the happy medium...

Amsterdam.

A relatively large city you can cycle everywhere too, English speaking and great train and air connections to everywhere.

I would second that !!

Interesting atmosphere.
Very good internet connections.
Very good transportation system, locally and internationally.
Mild climate, does get cold, but you do get used to everything sooner or later !
LBNL, you will NOT be the only one doing what you are good at !!
English is like a second language in The Netherlands.

No kidding?

How would they know you're telecommuting if you're just communicating with clients back in the USA and sending files back and forth? You're not collecting any money there.

After all, all those people in the Mediterranean are tax cheats anyway.
