HOw do Europeans feel about this? Most of the young Europeans are moving from their villages to come to cities to "live their life" and so that they can have jobs. Today, only 1/5 Europeans live in villages. The only extremely rural country left in Europe is Liechtenstein (only 15% urban). On the other hand, Belgium is 98% urbanized!!

Living in cities can be pretty fun, but they have lots of disadvantages. Urbanization can lead to deforestation, overcrowdedness, pollution, limited space, more expensive, and generally people are more stressed out. Most countries in Europe are urbanizing pretty fast. How do Europeans feel about this?

Propably. You can't find proper countryside in central/western europe. Finland has some wilderness, but still most people live in cities

Well, parts of Scandinavia and France are pretty empty, although not to the point of what you find in other remote parts of the world.

looks France = Spain , Germany =Britain = Italy

Welcome to Canada if you want villages and the wild nature of nothingness. 95% of our land is just like that.

I personally think West Europe has optimal density. North America/Oceania are too sparse, and east Asian is too crowded.

I'm okay with our density and urbanization, we've reached a point where village life is still possible without never feeling isolated and being far from a city. If you wanted you could get both, for example this place ( http://mw2.google.com/mw-panoramio/p...m/36799993.jpg ) is about 10 kilometers from a metropolis such as Turin. You cam live in absolute quiet and in a place where a strong sense of community is still present and commute to the city for whatever thing you need

Well, I'm not European. HOWEVER, one of the things I noticed in many European countries is they really know how to BALANCE the land. Meaning, they cherish and keep the lands preserved that should be preserved. In short, you definitely have a lot of nature and great things throughout Europe to 'get away from it all'.

Additionally, countries like SPAIN, I would see that most small towns are clustered together in tight quarters, and then abruptly it would switch from urban to rural. Which is completely different than the U.S. system which would have a tiny urban, and than incredibly large swaths of SURBURBAN spreading out covering everything for 100s of miles around Phoenix or Atlanta and such. That is way worse in my opinion.

For me, I like what density brings in Europe. I don't think the U.S. has anything like it except for New Orleans, New York, San Francisco, Chicago.

I grew up and lived in cities biggest part of my life. There was a time when i liked it, during my late teens and early 20's, but apart from that period i allways new i was gonna leave. And as soon as i had the chance i did.

I really hate the density in my country. It's like no matter where you go, no matter wich direction you look, you always see a nearby town or at least a few houses.
Where i live now, in the middle of a polder it's still only 5 min to the nearest village and only 20 min to the nearest city. That's about the most rural it can get in Holland

My family however, who all lived in big cities their whole live, act like i'm living on the edge of the world, so far away from civilization, like i moved to Alaska or something

Really? We have probably a different idea of countryside then.

For example I'm used to consider all the places outside the cities an major towns as countryside, and in particular all the cultivated areas.

For example this is a photo of the Langhe-Roero, that for me it's already countryside. This area is famous for the wine production. Langhe - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

http://www.findyouritaly.com/sites/d...?itok=5EB0wMP4

According to this statistic List of countries by urban population - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
our urban population is the 2/3 of the total (more or less 40000 on 60000). It is probably a little higher than average, but it also shows that we don't all live in the cities.
