This very detailed demographic map, helps explain why some Euro countries reject refugees, while others love them

I don't think so. If you're implying that countries are more willing to accept migrants if they have low birth rates or low population growth, then Eastern Europe should be the most pro-immigration region of Europe, but they're the least pro-immigrant region.

Germany is taking in the refugees because of misplaced guilt and always overcompensating for past issues. It has nothing to do with adding population (and it isn't like the mostly unskilled and often illiterate migrants are exactly going to be powering the skills-dependent economy; they will mostly be on public assistance).

Depends on country's history, mentality, experience, state of economy.

Anywhere that shows numbers on how many refugees each country is accepting?

I've only heard 3 million Syrians have been displaced and the United States has taken in less than a thousand, which is ridiculous in my opinion considering our government played a big role in creating this mess in the first place.

There are just over four million registered Syrian refugees (source: UNHCR). The vast majority are in camps in Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey.

As a practical matter, the idea of displacing and resettling all four million is ridiculous. Our efforts should be on making life in the camps as good as possible while working to resolve the situation that made them refugees in the first place.

Syrian refugees: Which countries welcome them - CNN.com

The US just pledged 10k though which is more than the article states though far less than we should. But far more than the extravagantly wealthy Gulf States, all of which combined have accepted 0 refugees.

Venezuela interestingly says it will take 20k. It will be interesting to see if any Syrian takes them up on that offer.

Politically there is a lot of disagreement in all European countries as how many "refugees" will be able to enter each country. Some countries more than others.

In Norway, the media is blasting pro-refugee propaganda `til the cows come home. However, most people are sick of it, and want no part of it anymore.

But the pro-refugee camp (left-wingers) are doing a great job labeling everyone opposing as heartless and racist. The left-wingers have found out where their voters in the future will come from - so they want the gates of Africa/Middle East to be wide open.

The problem with that is that this will become a NATO problem. No European countries invest in national defense and they rely on the US to provide that support. Now that Russia is putting boots on the ground next door to Turkey (NATO) and many refugees are fleeing to NATO nations it becomes more than a global problem. A lot of refugees are jumping on the Syria band wagon and fleeing to Europe as well from North Africa, Mid East etc...So the 2 schools of thought are what's in the best interest of the NATO members? Allow safe havens for people while their home nation burns and influenced by Russia? Or develop a plan to stop the fighting abroad, then the flow of immigrants will cut off?

You can argue that many of the immigrants are ISIS friendly and their goal is to penetrate muslim communities and radicalize them. Thats another problem to deal with.

Obama exasperated this problem by supporting the Arab spring and trying to be tough on Assad and failing miserably.
