The relations of spanish with the english (although Gibraltar)and the French have greatly improved since the entry into UE , perhaps because our wars they are old.-
Might wonder if the same happens between France and England or Poland with Germany.-
And also of Finlandia with Russia and Russia with Poland and Germany.-

I guess such resentment actually doesn't play an important role amongst European people anymore.
Erasmus exchange programs and better knowledge of foreign European languages help too.
However seen in some forums some resentment finnish and Polish with Rusia.-
It would be interesting to know opinions of people of those countries in this issue.-
As for the areas annexed by USSR in WWII there is no resentment. Finland has said that the borders are definitive and there's no issues there.
There is some elements of russophobia underlying, but it's much more milder and infrequent here than in Poland. Russophobia has been sporadic and the peak era of it was less than a 100 years in Finland. Meanwhile Poland and Russia have had poor relations for hundreds of year, and you can almost say there's is an ethnic or racial resentment between the two.
Since the fall of the USSR the numbers of Russians have exploded in Finland, and Russia isn't anymore some obscure nation where their people come with rifles and brown uniforms across the border. You meet them on the streets, stores and bars, and people have realised they are as normal people as anyone else. Russians in Finland are also generally better educated and more cosmopolitan than the average in Russia.
But I've also seen a rise in russophobia after the events in Crimea and Ukraine, but that's targeted towards the Kremlin and other parts of 'official' Russia, not the average Dimitri on the street.
The resentment there is in Europe right now is mostly directed towards recent immigrants, particularly 1)Moslems2)Africans. Now there is also quite a lot of internal resentment in some countries, for instant traditional anti "Castillian" in Catalonia and Basque country, anti "Wallonian" in the Flemish part of Belgium (and reverse), anti "Mezzogiorno" in Northern Italy, anti "English" in Scotland, and last but not least, anti Russian minority in the Baltic countries and anti Serbian minority in Kosovo. Not to forget anti Roma sentiment in the whole Balkans.

Yes, you are right.
Everyone can see how there are so many top holiday spots in southern Europe from southern Portugal to Greek islands that are chosen by millions of Europeans every summer, so you can see lot of partypeople having fun there without being upset by other Europeans.
You know, Malta is one of those hot spots, and everything is fine there.
A friend of me was there in August 2007 to improve his English and made a lot of friends from all over Europe, so he told me it really was a great experience.
Thus, when I was in Mallorca in August 2008 I still remember what an older man who worked as a recepcionist told me.
He said that while he was younger, back in 70's and early 80's, it was pretty common to see heavy fights between drunk British and drunk Germans and even sometimes between Dutch and Germans ones almost everyday in Palma Bay, but, as you said earlier, people have moved on, so nowadays no one cares anymore.
