Looking for suggestions as to which city would be better. Traveling in June from Mid East to California for summer. I wish to break up my journey midway in Europe and certainly will be tired of the 40C plus temps and Ramada restrictions at that time (work in Kuwait but off for summer) Which city would be better to visit for 3 days? I have been to Amsterdam several times and love the quaintness - walks, museums, variety of foods and brown cafes. I am looking for a place to chill for several days - ride bike, eat and rink, and enjoy another culture. How does Stockholm compare to Amsterdam in mid June for a tourist?

Stockholm and Sweden is at it´s best in june and you don´t have to worry about temperatures over 30C if you happen to visit during a heat wave.
You also have a whole new lot of walks, museums and restaurants to try out.
I would also recommend you to rent a bike and spend they day on Djurgården and either have a picnic or visit a restaurant.

I recommend you Amsterdam but i'm quite impartial on this I can also recommend you Rotterdam and Den Haag, if you didn't visit those cities is the time to do it, Rotterdam is every day closer and closer to Amsterdam. It's much more modern than Amsterdam and it reminds me more of a US city, with all of those skyscrapers and the modern architecture. Amsterdam is more classic, but it's also very beautiful. Rotterdam has also the old dutch style but just a very few as most of the city center was destroyed on the war.

Btw, if you decide to come here I can recommend you many things to do, if you want pm me. And yes, it's incredible from June to September it's the best climate out here and it's all lushy and green.

You really answered your question yourself. Stockholm needs to be explored after you already visited Amsterdam several times. Sweden is very worth a visit and June gives you the longest days.

I liked Stockholm way more than Amsterdam. If you already have been to Amsterdam, why not just go to Stockholm?
