I just came back from taking Mom out for Wienerschnitzel and a Stigl Beer...

She had the Veal and I had the same in Pork...

Wiener is a variation of the name Wien which is the capital city of Austria also know as Vienna...

When in Austria there will often be three choices... Turkey Schnitzel the most expensive followed by Veal followed by Pork...

The kiddie Schnitzel always comes with fries... adult by request.

My distant relative owns a Schnitzel house... people come from long distances and her schnitzel covers the plate and is pounded thin...

The old timers will often insist on a ladle of fat liberally sprinkled on top...

You can get pork, veal or chicken schnitzel. My preference is pork. I also make it at home the way my German stepmom taught me.

I use bread crumbs the way she would. Now I'm hungry for it... I think that's what I'll have for dinner tomorrow.

Don't leave out the lemon wedge when serving proper wienerschnitzel. It tastes naked without a good squeeze.

The restaurant chain has nothing to do with real wienerschnitzel - they serve boiled hotdogs and polish sausages sliced in half with a wedge of pickle down the length. ::shudder::

^^^

And the hot dogs that they serve are about the worst that I have ever tasted. They remind me of the lousy chicken hot dogs that you get at the dollar store.

OP needs to clarify: Wienerschnitzel fast food American chain or Wienerschnitzel - as a breaded veal dish?

Well... here is a question - is there any meat or just mystery stuff?

Growing up in California, I'm very familiar with the restaurant chain,"Wienerschnitzel", but it has nothing to do with German food.
