I plan to visit Paris and Madrid. Since I'll have less than one week for the trip, I want to shorten the amount of time to travel from Paris to Madrid in order to see more attractions in the cities.
Questions:
1) Shall I fly to Madrid or take the train?
2) If taking the train is a better choice, shall I take the sleeper train or daytime train? I heard there are many pickpockets on the night train.
3) I'm unable to find sleeper train schedule. The only option seems to depart from Paris (PARIS AUSTERLITZ) at 9:19pm and arrive at Madrid (MADRID ATOCHA) at 3:45pm the following day. That seems a night plus most of a day.
4) If flying, which Paris airport shall I depart?
5) Which are ideal departure train station in Paris and arrival train station in Madrid?
I would value your sharing your opinions and experiences!

A lot of the sleeper trains in Europe have now been scrapped, so it's probably better to fly, as it takes 8 hours on the train, which isn't so bad if you can sleep through on a bed but not much fun trapped in a seat.

What about driving from Paris to Madrid?
It's a 12 hours drive while enjoying the beautiful landscapes across both countries.
