I plan to visit Paris and Madrid. Since I'll have less than one week for the trip, I want to shorten the amount of time to travel from Paris to Madrid in order to see more attractions in the cities.

Questions:

1) Shall I fly to Madrid or take the train?

2) If taking the train is a better choice, shall I take the sleeper train or daytime train? I heard there are many pickpockets on the night train.

3) I'm unable to find sleeper train schedule. The only option seems to depart from Paris (PARIS AUSTERLITZ) at 9:19pm and arrive at Madrid (MADRID ATOCHA) at 3:45pm the following day. That seems a night plus most of a day.

4) If flying, which Paris airport shall I depart?

5) Which are ideal departure train station in Paris and arrival train station in Madrid?

I would value your sharing your opinions and experiences!

you should fly. Where to fly from depends on ticket prices.

flying should be the obvious choice, cheaper and faster.

There is no night train Madrid-Paris anymore as it was discontinued when the high speed line joined both cities (via Barcelona)

The flight is $71 and takes 2 hours with Air Europa. Thanks to all who made the suggestion!

A lot of the sleeper trains in Europe have now been scrapped, so it's probably better to fly, as it takes 8 hours on the train, which isn't so bad if you can sleep through on a bed but not much fun trapped in a seat.

What about driving from Paris to Madrid?
It's a 12 hours drive while enjoying the beautiful landscapes across both countries.
