Most people just keep listing car companies and a couple tech companies, but Britain also has a lot of companies in other industries. Ever shopped at a Tesco, or banked at Barclays or HSBC, purchased fuel at a BP or Shell, drank a Schweppes soda, eaten a Cadbury chocolate bar, purchased insurance from Prudential, or pharmaceuticals from GlaxoClineSmith? If you live in the west, probably half of the items in your kitchen and bathroom come from Unilever, although most of their brands were not started in the U.K., but just acquired by a British company.

This is especially true when British people make music that sound very «*American*». When I was a kid I was sure that Dire Straits was an American group. Their music sounded quintessentially American to me.
More recently I was surprised to discover tha Amy Winehouse was British. Her music sound so black American.

You want a list of British artists which don't sound American? Anyone with a clue about popular/rock music could make one.

BBC is obviously a British Brand. So is Vodaphone.
Alstom, a French company makes many of the metro trains for systems in the US. AnseladoBreda is an Italian manufacturer that makes metro rolling stock for Los Angeles metros. So does Siemens.
