The most alpine country of the Alps region is Italy I believe.

Looking at this map. You can see the Alps makes a sort of C, or upside down check. Italy is the only country whose border extends all along the length of the alps.

Most people associate the Alps with Switzerland. But the Swiss have no more of the Alps than France does. Even Austria seems like it has more alps than Switzerland.

By the way Austria looks like a Tomahawk Ribeye Steak.

Even though Italy has by far the longest alpine border, subsections of the range are known by different names (to the locals at least), such as the Dolomites in N.E. Italy.

I've been to both the Alps and Rockies (Aspen) in summer only, and although the Rockies
are almost as high, the Alps have a much "sharper" more rugged profile. I think that's because the valleys seem deeper and narrower.

true but the Alps are at the edge of Italy and make a small part of it while they make up most of Switzerland. Most of Italy is Apennines and coasts.
