They also bring a novel approach to homeland security by conveying to ordinary people the need for security.

Everyone between the ages of 16 and 70 living in Sweden is part of Sweden’s total defense,” states the government emergency information website.

Sweden's military industry ranks among the world’s top in technology and exports. Inside NATO, the new Nordic members bring a whole new mindset.

NATO with Finland and Sweden will also now control nearly the entire Baltic Sea.

The Nordic addition will be good for the Alliance (NATO) and a most welcome addition in all aspects. Europe should not be divided with strength in Unity.

It's so ironic that Putin got the exact opposite as what he intended in uniting Europe into NATO. If Russia ever wanted to invade the Northern Flank of Finland, Sweden and Norway they would get their asses kicked so hard given their pathetic showing in Ukraine.

Sweden and Finland were already NATO de facto members, this is simply political posturing, Russia could not care less.

All these two nations got now is nuclear warheads pointed at them (feel great isn't it??) and they can kiss goodbye to their typical negotiating ground role in international disputes as formally neutral countries punching above their weight. Now they will be viewed simply as US vassals (which they were already but not formally), no more let's talk round tables in Stockholm.

Neither of them has access (and that means no claim) to the Artic ocean where one of the real next geopolitical battle will be fought.

It's their loss not Russia. Militarily in a total war they can be taken out of commission with relatively small resources. Let's say a NATO-Russia war breaks out over Georgia or somewhere else far....it is worth for the Swedes or the Finns to be annihiliated, just in case, because Russia wants to make sure its access to the Baltic stays open?? That is a very lousy deal and many people in these countries agree.

It is basically an exercise in futile temper tantrum since NATO real eastward expansion it's over.

No, it is not political posturing. The Nordic countries can now act as single unit, share resources and top secret intelligence. Russia is furious and has made several threats towards Sweden and Finland.

The only European vassal state is Belarus, a gloomy dictatorship.

Nuclear missiles have probably been pointed at Finland and Sweden since the start of the Cold War.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine (2022-) has been described as a total war. Russia would struggle immensely, just as they have in Ukraine.

Europeans are easily spooked, unfortunately. Tell them that the Russians are coming, and they go into total panic mode and make bad decisions. The Swedes and Finns are no exception, it seems.
Exactly.

Russia does not give a damn about Sweden and Finland joining and the Russians did not make any threats towards Sweden and Finland, please do not make stuff up.

The entire EU is a vassal of the US and its geopolitical irrelevance is under everybody eyes and nobody respects them...the shrill furious ones are the Europeans (look at the von der Leyen and all the other Europeans nullities in tow from Macron to the brainless German minister of Foreign affairs and so on) they make laughable, preposterous declarations every other day definitely not Putin.

The sharing of resources and intelligence has been happening for decades, again, these two countries were already de facto NATO members.

What changes is that if a NATO-Russia clash does come, Russia will be fully justified in kicking their butt if there is any threat to Baltic access...they brought mayhem to themselves. Actually this clarify things for Russia removing any ambiguity.

NATO is a defensive organisation and Sweden and Finland have already stipulated that they will not host US facilities or nuclear weapons.

There is no reason for Russia to engage in war anyone including Ukraine.

Hopefully in the future there will be a different Russian leader and Government and things will once again improve and we can go back to having cordial relations, as was the case at the end of the Cold War, whilst hopefully one day trade will also be restored.

People in the West have no problem with the ordinary Russian people, and the real issue here is down to Putin and the current Russian administration, and no one in the West wants conflict with Russia or her people.

Good for them, problem are the defensive launchers that can be quickly converted in offensive launchers.

There are no assurance whatsoever, actually good hints of the contrary that the next leader will be more pliable to western interests compared to Putin......western leaders may end up wishing they dealt with Putin instead of rebuffing him.
