Went to check out 24 hr fitness location that I was a member of 4-5 years ago today. They've remodeled a bit and replaced stupid TRX area with power racks and actual bumper plates. And the guy giving me the tour actually encouraged dropping weights in that area. It's still a 24 hr fitness but this seems to be a step in the right direction for a corporate gym
When you are doing something like a clean and jerk and you have a barbell with a few hundred pounds directly over your head and your body starts to give out because it's the end of a hard work out and you are trying to break personal records for weight then the options are drop the bar behind you and bail or drop the bar on your head and die. If you are not into olympic lifting or power lifting then it may not make sense to you but believe me it's standard practice. Watch the olympics

Sure.
There's situations where you occasionally do need to drop weights. Problem is for every one time that happens there's a dozen instances of frat bro who drops the weights every set, every time. It gets annoying. Especially when you're working with barbells and you have to get a bro thrown out of the gym because he's throwing the weights around nearly hitting you on the next bench.
My 24 Hour Fitness was recently bought out by another chain, but it's had power racks and a small number of bumper plates (in addition to the more usual steel plates) for as long as I can remember. It's one of the reasons I like the gym.
Oh-no, expect to see an influx of roided-up, jacked Douche-Bros and similar......lots of grunting and screaming. That won't go-over well with 90% of the non-hardcore clientele at 24-hr, expect removal or serious curbs on the power-area in short-order.

Never happened at my 24 Hour Fitness. The folks using the power racks and bumper plates were just ordinary power-lifter types. No excessive screaming, grunting, or dripping weights simply for show.
