Former heavyweight boxer David Tua (Career record 52-5-2, 43 KOs) 5'10, fought between 225-240 pounds in his boxing days.

I know he has the charitable Polynesian genetics on his side, as well as possibly some pharmaceutical assistance (pro boxer, wouldn't doubt it) but is it possible for a regular guy to get that type of thigh/calf development? Me and him are the same height fwiw, and my hams/quads respond very well to lower body exercises...

Other than genetics, it's possible to get those stats by squats and leg presses.

Genetics is always part of the answer. It takes genetics, diet, and heavy lifting over years to get those legs. And it is possible to do it naturally.

Anyone old enough to remember Tom Platz?

He's still a squattin'.

The thing is, since those guys are short (at least from the pics), they like look kinda like fire hydrants. Legs that thick just look kinda weird. Just my humble opinion.

A "regular" guy being someone starting from average, untrained quads, it is possible theoretically but it would take at least a couple years of consistent, progressive training.

David Tua has warrior genes and has been training his whole life in combat sports. Rarely does anyone admit to taking PEDs, but I think Tua could look like this without resorting to chemical enhancement.

The average person could look cut and muscular with discipline and the right diet, but they won't be able to achieve this level size and thickness. That is genetics and a lifetime of hard work.

Some people are naturally thickly built and some aren't. Also different people's bodies have different areas that tend to bulk up.

In my case, I could probably develop legs like that pretty easily, having seen what they looked like when I was racing bicycles in my 20s. I could never develop an upper body like that. I have known a lot of athletic guys who no matter how intense their workouts would never bulk up like that. They might be strong as all get out but they didn't look like that.
