Bad idea for some of us who dont/cant drink. I think a protein shake in the shower is the best post workout beverage for anyone trying to gain mass. For people trying to stay in shape or be toned I would think water, juice, or something like gatorade would be best. Besides, post workout most people are partially to very dehydrated and alcohol would worsen that. People who are partial to headaches would most especially want to avoid this. This is the equivalent of recommending people drink black coffee after a marathon. Let me know what brand of paper towels your tongue mimics after that one.
Well, I'm going to save this for those times in my life when I'm too skinny. Oh, shoot! I just ran off too many calories. I guess I'll have to rehydrate with beer. Good thing I ran to the bar today. Too bad I'm the only sweaty one here. Oops.
I don't drink alcohol and wouldn't if I had to. But worked with a man who had bad kidney infections from time to time. His doctor, who was also a good friend, told him something to try "off the record". Said he knew a man with the same problem. Started drinking 2 beers before bed time every nite. Never had any other trouble with kidney infections. My friend tried it and it worked for him too. Flushes the system quicker that way.
Although usually the only "workout" I follow up with a beer is after I've mowed the lawn. Since I work out in the mornings, usually, a beer on the way to work wouldn't really be appropriate, LOL.
Just eat a well balanced meal or a protein shake if you have to.
