New body on the RR HSE just arrived as a 2013 model so that might help you by reducing the prices on used ones (old body style). I have a few friends with them, nothing terrible to report but not Lexus reliable by any means.
Biggest hassle: Dealer is 20+ miles away so when it does break it is a hassle to service. One guy moved to about 35 miles away and traded the car for a Mercedes ML since the dealer was 10 miles or less from the new house. If you live far from the dealer take this into consideration.
Of the two, the HSE is a more reliable, in Range Rover speak, vehicle. The proper RRs we have had in my family have been decent starting with the BMW years, but I agree with City Guy 997S above that the level of reliability is not the same as a Lexus LX by any means. The Sport is based on the LR/Discovery in the rest of the world, and as such can have more problems, at least among those I know with them. I've not owned a Sport, nor has anyone in my family, because of disaster with an LR that was in the shop almost as much as the earlier Discovery that it replaced.

Now is the time to buy a 2010 - because the the nex-gen - which is a big big improvement - has started to arrive.
lighter by 800 lbs - totally redesigned - more aerodynamic - more options - much much more efficient- all this leads to the 2009-2012 go for step depreciation (which they are already famous for).
I have a 2009 LR3 which has been very reliable. I mention that because you mentioned a RR Sport, which shares it's engine, drivetrain and chassis with the LR3.
I did get an extended warranty though for added peace of mind.
I have a 2008 RR HSE. Reliability has never been in doubt. Monstrous snow storm dumped over a foot of snow last winter. The RR shrugged it off and plowed through it like a mountain goat while a Lexus RX 350 floundered around helplessly. A GL Mercedes class I saw was abandoned. Even a late model Jeep Grand Cherokee got stuck.
My daughter and her husband bought a 2012 RR Sport and they've had no issues with it at all I was very surprised hearing all the bad press abound Land Rover. They just bought a new 2016 RR Sport they love them.
It's comfy, decent reliability, a good SUV in general. I have never owned one, but I borrowed my friend's a couple times.
