One bottle per week, that's how If I drink it too soon, then I go dry until the following week.

By the way, I haven't had a cup of wine for several days now. Two days ago we had a house fire, and luckily the dog survived because the firefighters got there a few minutes later. I was at work, and a neighbor down the road called the fire on his cell phone. He say smoke coming out the gables.

I got home from work to find the firefighters rolling up the hoses after the fire. It was a big surprise. According to them, the fire started on the back porch by the kitchen, probably from some hot ashes from the wood stove. My wife decided to clean the stove that morning before leaving for work, something that I usually do in the evening when I come home.

Anyway, we are living at a hotel for a few weeks. The insurance contractors told me they will be making the repairs within two months. They already removed the rugs, packed all the salvageable belongings, and tomorrow they will be removing the insulation in the attic, plus doing some plumbing work. By the end of the week they should be working on the roof trusses that got damaged. The living room ceiling, all the way though the dining room has already been removed.

Take care, Met

That is a horrific experience. I've never been through it myself, but I've had several close friends who've had fires.

It's just a relief to hear that it wasn't a total catastrophe. And in particular that everyone is well.

Thanks, Met! That was real funny ("the still blew up" part).

To everyone in here, I appreciate your nice comments. Yes, Floyd, that includes you, of course

The insurance company, State Farm, is taking care of everything. The person taking care of things is Tammy Randolph, who has managed our insurance coverage for over 20 years. I had to mention her name, not to advertise, but as a token of appreciation since she came to our home not 20 minutes after the fire, and took charge of the situation. I was pretty much like a dummy, and could not think straight

The North Star firefighters covered and moved stuff out of the way before getting things wet. They covered some of the furniture, removed paintings, photos, and other stuff away from the walls to a safer location, and so forth. But must importantly, they rescued our dog, Abbie. The damage to the house should be around $80K. Thanks God for being able to afford insurance!

Yes, home fires are quite scary, and let me tell you that we din't really want to leave our home to a hotel. Even the dog is feeling out of place and hardly ate her food until today. She just had a nice dinner, and stood by the dining table begging for a taste of chicken, meanwhile drooling all over the floor.

Thanks to all of you again.

Ray

With a criminal history like that, including previous assaults with knives, the fact that he's in jail for a max of 3 years is insane.

Good lawyers or bad prosecution? Yikes.

Who knows, but according to a news article over a year ago. There was a hung jury on first degree murder and a plea agreement was reached... Hence the 3 1/2 year jail sentence.
