so it is going to be 94 in the city today and i am going to be wearing grey slacks. a. because i don't currently have any professional-looking skirts b. i haven't shaved in a while lol c. its just comfy and i get too cold in the office anyway.
but everyone else at the office decks out in pretty skirts. is it bad that i feel self conscious about always wearing pants? lol
what about you all? do you wear pants or skirts more to the office? why?

If you dress professionally with a pair of dress slacks and a nice blouse, it should be quite acceptable for your work environment. A woman isn't required to wear a skirt to look nice.
I wear both pants and skirts in the summer but find nothing wrong with just wearing pants if that is what you are most comfortable in. I wear some skirts and dresses in the summer because they are much cooler when it is hot outside and I have some skirts and dresses that I only get mileage out of in the summer. Don't be self conscious! I would say well over half of the women in my office never wear skirts or dresses.
I don't work in a business environment, I work in education, I am required to follow a business casual dress code on days when I am conducting meetings with other professionals in my field, however. I tend to wear skirts/dresses, because they're what I find to be most comfortable and flattering on me (although in the event of weather too cold for tights and boots with my skirts/dresses, I will wear pants).
I am one of the only ones who wears skirts and dresses with any regularity, though. But I just don't like pants unless they're denim. I have one pair of black dress pants that I like, and a pair of grey corduroys that are alright. But I just never find dress pants as flattering on me as skirts and dresses.

I'm about half & half in the summer. It depends on anything from wehre in the wash cycle I am to what sort of clients are coming into the office that day.
If you're feeling self-conscious and still prefer to wear pants, then change up what you wear on top and, perhaps, wear a more girly type shoe in the summer. For example, if you're a twinset & pearls & slacks & loafers type of gal, switch it up to a print or striped sleeveless knit top, a woven short sleeve shaped jacket in a solid color with a chunky necklace and red or navy espadrilles.
I have bought some cute, flirty skirts for summer. I wear them with a tank top, sandals, and a "floaty" jacket on top. I go to peoples homes, who have no AC! Forget a suit! I live in the south, sticky and humid. The less clothes, the better. But I still have to look "professional".
Pants are fine, but I appreciate the opportunity to wear skirts in the spring and summer. It's too cold here in the winter unless I go all Little House on the Prairie and break out the flannel petticoats.
My favorites are knee-length A-line skirts with inverted box pleats. They have a pretty, feminine shape, and they don't fly up over my head in the infamous Chicago breezes. I am wearing one right now in a very fine cream corduroy with big green leaves all over it, with a green top.
