This weekend, my friends and I (all late 40s to early 50s) were talking about how clueless we are about our fashion and beauty mistakes. We are curious what the fashionista's opinions are on what fashion and makeup goofs that may be aging us beyond our years. We are far from up to date .

Help us out with your advice and be honest!

Ah the dreaded faux pas in fashion!

-Never never wear an outfit that accentuates the less desirable body parts and accentuate the positive ones in a lady-like fashion!
-Don't OVER DO the foundation and make sure it blends in with your natural complexion!!!
-NO mascara on your lower eye lashes; unless you want to look like a DOLL/Betty Boop!!! and bring attention to your crow's feet, puffy or tired eyes, and any tiny flaw you might have in this area.

Quick ones -- update the frames of your eyeglasses. Stop using black gel/liquid eyeliner and switch to a smudged pencil or powder line -- it can be a dark color, just not black. Even if you don't change the length of your hair, get a current cut and learn how to style it with newer tools/techniques (no poufed up bangs, giant fluffy hot roller sets).

Too dark is bad, but the wrong blonde or red can be equally bad, too. Not everyone has the coloring for platinum blonde. Get the right color for your skin tone or it can wash you out and make you look much older.

^^This makes one look "older" and/or a faux pas? I use a micro-fiber gel (upper eye area) and it looks FABULOUS/smudge-proof also!

Agree with old hair styles aging a woman. If one of my friends was still rocking the Farrah Fawcett bleached blonde hair at 45 that would be bad. I also think wearing dated clothing ages women, though I see the 1970s and even 1960s styles are back in fashion, 1988 not so much. Those thin eyebrows are bad, too, no?

Wearing the wrong color blush and/or applying it too low (makes your face look saggy(er)

Let's face it, pull up our big boy/girl pants and admit it. You cross 40, you're not young any longer, you're indeed old. You cross 55, you're senile.

Is that too hard to accept?

Senior pancakes for those who accept

Forget pancakes.

Make 'em crepes with coffee ice cream inside and a nice Kahula sauce poured over the top and you've got yourself a deal.
